If you underrate someone or something, you do not recognize how clever, important or significant they are. Do not belittle anyone who you do not recognize.
God has given each one of us the ability to do something in life. In the story of David and Goliath, a young man, who never fought in a war in his life, defeats not only a champion, but a giant who everyone fears.
Before he slays Goliath, David’s family had been visited by the prophet Samuel, and been anointed to be the next king. This despite the fact he was the youngest and only tended sheep, they really did not pay any attention to him because he was young. Samuel would not just anoint any of his brothers, they were not the chosen ones. David was sent for, when he arrived, the Lord said to Samuel; this is the one -anoint him. The Lord can make who He wants into His instrument. It is up to us to be willing to accept that call and act.
At the time of war, David arrived at the camp just as the Israelites were going out to their battle line. He began asking questions from the men who were near him. His oldest brother, Eliab, heard David talking to the men. He was angry with David and said, what are doing here?; at this point Eliab underrated David, he felt he was too young to know about the war or should not know what was actually going on, not only Eliab underrated his brother but King Saul also did underrate David, when David said he was going to fight Goliath, King Saul said no!, how could you fight him? You are a boy and Goliath has been a soldier all his life. Finally, David came out to fight Goliath. Goliath on seeing David was filled with scorn for him because he was just a nice good looking boy. Goliath was strong as to the strength of men, yet he was defeated by a young man-a teenager, really, why? Because David had the strength of the Lord behind him. If you are on the right side of the Lord, it makes you stronger than anything.
The story here tells us not to look down on people because they are not up to our standard. No matter what or who you are, the Lord has His blessings upon you. If it is not your time to shine, do not rush. The Lord in His own time will lift you up. Just know that if you honor who you are and don’t pretend you are something else, you will be more successful. David knew and was familiar with his weapons, what weapons do you have? Your weapons are your faith, knowledge of the scriptures, your obedience to the commendents and the truth. If you know your weapons and are familiar with them, then, you should use them. The Lord will lift you up and no one will have to look down on you or underrate you.
PS : I do not judge as people judge. They look at the outward appearance, but I look at the heart, saith the Lord!. 1 Samuel 16:7
